Internship · Amsterdam

Who are we?

Sherlocked is the mutli award winning experience design studio behind some of the world's most lauded escape rooms, home mysteries and immersive adventures.

Our mission: to make the world more magical.

We’re looking for a marketing intern to work with our creative director, graphic artist, game designers and the rest of our studio team starting summer or fall '24 (start date flexible).

We've currently got a number of different productions in the works, some of which are set to launch during this internship:

  1. The Kickstarter to the sequel of The Medusa Report

  2. A re-imagining of our immersive heist adventure The Vault

  3. An escape room designed around quantum physics

  4. A collaboration with a relatively regal partner...

  5. A magical and immersive masked ball ✨

While we can't say much about those projects yet, here's a sample from some of our past work:

Are you:

  • Excited about marketing. Communication comes naturally to you, and you’re excited to find the best ways to reach and spark others.

  • Self-determined. You don’t wait for people to give you tasks, you invent your own and take initiative. You ask for help where needed.

  • Eager to experiment. The tricks of the trade are constantly changing, and you are eager to try new things and develop your skills.

And are you interested in..

..at least 2 of the following fields (not all of them - it's a lot)

  • Crowdfunding campains What makes a campaign successful? What prep does it take, how do you engage a community?

  • Creative marketing How do we present the wide variety of our projects to their respective audiences? What's the Sherlocked way of saying "give this a try"?

  • Social media - When to post what where? Keep it short. Show don’t tell. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Learn the tricks of the trade and master them.

  • Copywriting "How does this sound? Hmm, that's confident, but boasty to the Dutch, let's go humble instead and throw in some cheek." Stuff like that.

  • Graphic design What makes something look yummy?

  • Developing partnerships Which companies match our DNA, and how can we work together to provide value to each other's audiences?

  • Social & Adwords advertising If we stop all our Google ads, do we still get the same visitors? (we tried this, the answer was yes!) How about visual ads, like with Insta Stories? Which visuals work best?

  • Google Analytics & Hotjar Where do our website's visitors spend the most time? Where do they drop off? Where do they come from?

  • UX optimisation what happens if we add a few buttons here and there? Or if we remove some text, or change a visual?

🇬🇧 Fluency in English is required. Dutch is a nice-to-have.

What do we offer?

  • Work you can be proud of, guaranteed (we only hire you if we believe we can guarantee this)

  • A friggin awesome internship and rich variety of projects (we can't promise you'll get to help stage a multi day immersive Hogwarts adventure in a 13th century castle, but it wouldn't be the first time

  • A team of creative, driven and can-do colleagues

  • €400 internship compensation per month, plus travel cost

  • Many opt-in team events like playing escape rooms together, game nights and other surprise experiences

  • An unbelievable office space in the heart of Amsterdam, combined with the freedom to work partly remote

Our office is located in the former French Consulate in the heart of town, with a gorgeous, wild garden at its core that's perfect for summer meetings, lunches and drinks.

For international students: we can try to help with housing, as this can be quite challenging in Amsterdam (no guarantees of course, this remains your responsibility)

Application deadline: we'll be looking at applications as they come in, so if you want to apply, then...
